Summering in Newport like my idol J.S. Sargent… I became a member at the local museum yesterday and I’m looking forward to spending time on their grounds working, drawing and such… the special exhibit they have up right now is awful lowkey very tacky contemporary work seemingly from Anime inspiration but like made with glitter and printed characters. No real heart, the brass wall fixture though stood out to my manager and I though so I’ll give the artist credit on that for sure… but of course that piece itself felt manufactured and not hand fabricated at all. If it were I’d give merit to the entire exhibit on that clause… The wonderful front desk clerk explained a new exhibit she’s looking forward to next week so that’ll be nice… After that I went over to get espresso at the local Italian spot on Bellevue and my mom spotted a new gallery opening so we went in after lunch… the place was called Montanaro Fine Art, the owner mentioned his other gallery was in Hell’s Kitchen Manhattan… would like to check that out for sure. Anyway, the gallerist was very knowledgeable and seemed to light up on what I had to say about the work and his… he really liked the part when I talked about how it’s gallerists job to bridge the gap between the underworld and society for all our modern history…
The painting’s that really stood out to me yesterday other then the Cushing gallery girls, like Vanderbilt’s daughter in blue beads and Nellie Burke’s immaculate composure I could only dream of at the moment… Were an abstract expressionism painting by Steve Wheeler which was actually wild, vibrant and textured so beautifully. The other was this amazing Matisse like still life that the artists name eludes me unfortunately (find and edit) but it had this amazing 2 dimensional muted almost blueberry toned background with this flower wallpaper that reminded me directly of Matisse’s work in Morocco and a wooden cutting board center stage with a watermelon on it sliced… would be incredible for a beach house has a very welcoming colorway but I’m probably bias I really love purplish blue and red together like a lot… if I bought it I’d put an antique frame on it right away though I despise minimalist, I rather hang a canvas bare then put a nothing around it…
Ended the day at the beach with my good friend Doyle, definitely a solid day and a great start to this Newport Summer… About to hit the welding supply store and get the rest of the gear I need to fix my torch hoses… Could be fully in action by tonight! I know my dear collectors rejoice in that. Fantom Gather is the next chapter, the truth! Full circle from 12 years ago working in Weinberg’s studio pretty much as a child to now we open shop in little italy baby! Next up for personal goals is the chandelier’s I chanted about in Faena with these hot popular u Miami girls… we cheered to it even so I gotta lock in… I’ll be the youngest castle decorator haha plenty of opportunity for clientele in my neighborhood bouta go door to door like how my brothers runs his political campaigns ha. It’s possible with the tools I have now, for the first time in years. It’s crazy to think that the last official Fantom drop and promo poster came out 4 years ago… Ugh, more time you spend in the sky, right? Overall feeling great, the team’s moral is solid and really excited to do some book reviews on here going forward and more blogs on the art events I’ll be attending this season.
Get Rich or Die trying my friends
Yours truly!
